Tidbit #11 : Crying Doesn't Indicate Weakness

I have heard many people tell me they hate crying for many different reasons, but most of them are rooted in the idea that crying makes you seem weak. I believe crying proves exactly the opposite. It is a process of strengthening the soul. Since birth, it has always been a sign that you are alive.

Recently, during training for summer camp, we did an activity called "My Life As a Tree."  We drew a cross section of a tree that would represent our lives so far. Thicker rings represented years that were more prosperous, thinner rings represented years of hardship, and sometimes there were scars, during really hard times.

When we'd all finished drawing, we shared our stories with the group and it became a sea of tears, an overwhelming waterfall. Many discussed with me afterwards that they felt terrible while crying, but that it was a healing process. Once the tears stopped, they began to feel whole again. Crying can help you release negative energy and let go of painful memories.

So, do not cry to excess and fall into the negativity and stay there. Rather, let yourself feel your feelings, take a deep breath, and then let it go. You will learn, you will grow, and you will become stronger.

:)

Much love for you as always,
Daisy
